SUMMARY

DDP ARCHIVED OBJECTS는 동대문디자인플라자(DDP) 개관 10주년을 기념해 스토리폼이 기획·제작한 디자인 오브제 컬렉션입니다.
조선 시대 이간수문(1396년)부터 동대문운동장(1985년), 그리고 현재의 DDP(2014년)까지, 한 장소에 켜켜이 쌓인 역사적 흔적을 산업 디자이너의 3차원 캔버스인 직육면체 형태로 압축했습니다.
또한 DDP의 건축 요소들을 디자이너의 시각으로 관찰하고 재해석하여, 일상에서 사용할 수 있는 기능성 오브제로 탄생시켰습니다.

DDP ARCHIVED OBJECTS is a commemorative design collection created by STORYFORM to celebrate the 10th anniversary of DDP (Dongdaemun Design Plaza).
The layered history of the site—from the Joseon-era Yigansumun gate (1396) to Dongdaemun Stadium (1985) and the present-day DDP (2014)—has been distilled into a rectangular prism form, the three-dimensional canvas of industrial designers.
Architectural elements of DDP were also observed and reinterpreted from a designer's perspective, transformed into functional everyday objects.

KEY DECISIONS

1) 역사적 흔적을 오브제로 번역하다
DDP가 존재하는 600년의 역사를 단 하나의 직육면체 형태 안에 담았습니다.
이간수문의 석재(Stone), 동대문운동장의 콘크리트(Concrete), DDP의 알루미늄(Aluminium)—소재 자체가 각 시대의 목소리가 되어 역사적 흐름을 감각적으로 전달합니다.

1) Translating historical traces into objects
Six hundred years of history embodied in DDP have been distilled into a single rectangular prism form.
The stone of Yigansumun, the concrete of Dongdaemun Stadium, the aluminium of DDP — each material becomes the voice of its era, conveying the flow of history through touch and form.

2) 건축을 일상으로 끌어내다
DDP 내부의 고유한 건축 요소들을 디자이너의 눈으로 다시 바라보았습니다.
디자인 둘레길의 나선형 형태는 술잔으로, 교차로의 구조는 펜 홀더로, 미래로 브릿지 구조는 명함 홀더로 재해석했습니다.
DDP라는 공간을 손에 쥐고 쓸 수 있는 물건으로 옮겨냈습니다.

2) Bringing architecture into everyday life
The unique architectural elements within DDP were observed and reinterpreted through a designer's perspective.
The spiral form of Design Dullegil became a drinking glass, the structure of the intersection became a pen holder, and the form of Miraero Bridge became a business card holder.
DDP as a space was translated into objects you can hold and use every day.

OUTCOME & IMPACT

스토리폼은 역사와 건축이라는 묵직한 주제를 누구나 손에 쥘 수 있는 감각적인 경험으로 담아냈습니다.
아카이브 오브제는 DDP의 역사적 여정을 상징적으로 기록하고, 기능성 오브제는 그 건축적 가치를 일상 속에 녹여냈습니다.
이 두 컬렉션은 DDP라는 공간이 품은 시간과 이야기를 디자인의 언어로 가장 작고 밀도 있게 표현한 결과물입니다.

STORYFORM translated the weighty themes of history and architecture into sensory experiences that can be held in your hands.
The archive objects symbolically document DDP's historical journey, while the functional objects weave its architectural value into everyday life.
These two collections are the smallest and most concentrated expression of the time and stories held within DDP — told through the language of design.

The long-standing history of DDP, spanning from the Joseon Dynasty to the present day, has been symbolically embodied in a small object—designed as a rectangular prism, the three-dimensional canvas of industrial designers. This piece was created to be seen, touched, and felt, allowing users to experience the legacy in a tangible form.
